Waqt Ki Awaaz
Waqt Ki Awaaz 91.2 FM – community radio, promoted by Shramik Bharti, is ensuring last mile awareness in rural Kanpur, by dissemination of information in local dialect and language by local people to address local issues and problems.
Since its inception in the year 2009 and formal registration to broadcast programs in the year 2013, Waqt Ki Awaaz has been a platform of propagating authentic information on diverse issues such as sustainable development, socioeconomic empowerment, water security, Gender Equality, better local governance and participatory democracy among its listener community of 5,00,000 spreading in 300 villages in Kanpur Nagar & Kanpur Dehat districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Unlike commercial & public sector broadcasters, Waqt Ki Awaaz is uniquely placed in the community. All its Producers, Grameen Reporters, artists and musicians come from the community only. They are the realowners. Waqt Ki Awaaz is providing space to their talent and identity. Programs are produced in local dialect in order to establish better relationship with the community. As a result, community feels close association & ownership, and contribute, by sharing their experiences, stories, view, singers or acting as characters in radio programs.
