Board Members

Mr. Ganesh Pandey

(Convener)

As a Law student after his graduation, Mr. Ganesh Pandey had been involved with the student movement. Later, he got deeply involved with the working class movement both with the organized and the unorganized sectors of the labouring poor. Resigning from the steady government job, he made his entry into the Developmental Sector at the age of forty-two by founding Shramik Bharti in 1986.

An effective orator and a well-meaning strategist with an ingrained intention for the upliftment of the suppressed, Mr. Pandey has carved a niche for his vision and mission by bringing Shramik Bharti to its present stature. His untiring efforts have helped in making Shramik Bharti a credible resource and training centre to help other grassroots civil society organisations walk the road that he has laid for them. Mr. Pandey has been sincere in his solidarity and handholding for the voluntary sector in general and in the endowment of emerging Development Organisations in particular.

Ms. Usha Varkey

(Member)

Ms. Usha Varkey, a teacher by profession, specializes in organizing communities and working with women and children. Travelled extensively within the country and abroad to participate in different forums and conferences including Beijing Conference in China in 1995, she brought ideas and inspiration that continues to enrich the organization.

Dr. Abhinav Rajverma

(Member)

Dr. Abhinav Rajverma (PhD – IIT Kharagpur; MBA – IIT Bombay) is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). He specialises in Corporate Finance, Financial Markets and Family Businesses, and has experience of over nine years in the industry and academia, executive training and consulting.
Currently, He is associated with the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PM-FME) in the capacity of a member of the State Level Approval Committee (Bihar) and the lead member of a subcommittee of AICTE to evaluate the impact of Universal Human Value (UHV) initiatives.

Dr. Jayant Upadhyay

(Member)

Dr. Jayant has Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur. He possess a long and distinguished career in Community health largely focusing on reproductive and child health and Nutrition. He started his career with Shramik Bharti as Programme Officer Health and later worked with several renowned organizations like South Solidarity, Prerna Population Resource Centre and Care India. He has many publications both national and international under his name. He is a firm believer in team-building and guiding people for their betterment.

Prof A.K. Sharma

(Member)

Professor A.K. Sharma is a senior academician associated with IIT Kanpur in Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. His areas of specialization are social demography and social statistics. A remarkably prolific academician, he has published about 104 papers in national and international journals and presented more than 75 papers in different National and international conferences along with publishing six books. He has been bestowed with many awards.

Ms. Achla Savyasaachi

(Member)

Professionally a Company Secretary Ms. Achla is presently associated with Microfinance Institutions Network as a senior consultant. She has worked with Sa-Dhan, the National Association of Community Development Finance Institutions for thirteen years. Ms. Achla has worked extensively on different approaches for widening and deepening of financial inclusion in urban and rural India. She extensively worked in promoting people-based institutions- Self Help Groups and their federations

Dr Anjali Tewari

(Member)

Dr. Anjali is MD in Pathology from the renowned GSVM College of Kanpur. She is holding the position as Laboratory Director at Regency Hospital, Kanpur since 1997. She is the chairperson of Ethics Committee at IIT Kanpur along with serving as Technical Assessor with NABL. She has published several research papers. Her interest lies in Women-issues, Literature, and art.

Rakesh Kumar Pandey

Chief Executive Officer

Rakesh Pandey is hands-on leader with an unparalleled understanding of community process and engagement. Under his leadership, Shramik Bharti has established itself as the leading Kanpur-based NGO that influences the lives of more than one million people in rural and urban disadvantaged communities in the spheres of empowerment, renewable energy, natural resource-based livelihoods, and WASH.

Ashish Shukla

Ashish Shukla leads the financial functions of Shramik Bharti. With his impressive background in Accounts, Taxation and Finance backed by 20 years of experience, His leadership style is intuitively result-oriented and visionary. He specializes in non-government organisation fund management and systems. His prior experience includes working in leading organisations impacts his management and strategic work ethic.

Sadhana Ghosh

Sadhana Ghosh is a distinguished social worker par excellence with keen interest towards community health program. At Shramik Bharti, in her role as a Community Health Manager, She has led pioneering health programs in the areas of reproductive health, HIV-AIDS, Community-insurance. She is a member of State and District ASHA mentoring group as well as the Member of PCPNDT committee of Kanpur

Rana Singh

Rana, aged 39 years, is a post graduate in agriculture extension from Bundelkhand University. He started his carrier in 2002 as an agriculture extension worker with UPDASP in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. After that he worked with Deen Dayal Research Institute, Chitrakoot, Gyan Bharti Trust, Orai and Development Alternatives, Orchha. He joined Shramik Bharti in 2011 as Project Manager of Equine Welfare Project. Currently he is leading Nature Farming initiatives of Shramik Bharti impacting about 1500 small & marginal farmers

Radha Shukla

A post graduate in sociology, Radha is a seasoned development professional with 28+ years’ experience.She is Master Trainer of Home Based Life Saving Skills in Post Natal Care. Having extensive experience in behavior change communication, Radha assumed responsibility of starting Community Radio Station in Kanpur Dehat in Oct’ 2008.

Presently, Radha is working as Station Coordinator, Waqt Ki Awaaz 91.2 FM; Community Radio Station, broadcasting 8 hours per day, covering around 500,000 population.

Vinod Dubey

Vinod Dubey started his career with Shramik Bharti in 1991 and has been persistent and meticulous in his efforts towards social change contributing in various capacities. He has rich experience of working on WASH issues. Mr. Dubeyis currently leading microfinance program.

Neelmani Gupta

Neelmani Gupta is a development professional associated with Shramik Bharti as Documentation Coordinator. She holds Master degree in Extension education and owns 25+ years’ experience of working on the issues of women’s empowerment, violence against women, reproductive and child health, and sustainable livelihoods, etc. She has an interest in documenting stories of change that have created lasting impact on the lives of underserved communities.

Ravindra Dwivedi

Ravindra Dwivedi is a seasoned professional with 16+ years of experience in Community mobilization, cluster development and community-based microfinance. He has previously worked with Foundation for MSME, BASIX, UNIDO, Indian institute of Rural Development, Catholic Relief Service. He is leading the City Slum- Microfinance Program currently.

Amitabh Kumar Singh

Amitabh possess around 25 years of experience of working on various developmental issues like community health, community mobilization, SHG formation and training, WASH et cetera. Currentlyhe is coordinating program on formation and strengthening of Farmer Producer Companies in Rural Kanpur.

Utkarsh Dwivedi

With an MBA in Rural Management, Utkarsh started his career in development sector by working on promoting entrepreneurship. In 2015 Utkarsh joined Shramik Bharti’s WASH project. Presently he is coordinating WASH project in Kanpur.

Varinder Pal Sandhu

A Post Graduate in Engineering, Varinder Pal found himself inclined towards Social Development and joined NGOs in the year 2006 to learn more about the development activities. Having farming background and with keen desire to learn about Sustainable farming and other livelihoods he got associated with Shramik Bharti in the year 2017. Over the years Varinder has developed good understanding of Natural Farming and sustainable livelihoods, Water Resource Management, joyful education among children etc. Currently he is leading Shramik Bharti’s Programs/projects in Punjab focusing on holistic development of rural communities.
